PEVELY, MO (JULY 27, 2022) -
Week 2 of the Schaeffer's Oil UMP Modified Series presented by Spartan Transportation, LLC would see the series head to the heart of the midwest at the ⅓ mile I-55 Raceway. 38 cars showed up for qualifying, with CFM E-Sports driver Blake Matjoulis setting the quick time with a 12.590 (94.36MPH) beating out Cole Cabre by a mere .001 seconds. Cole Hardy, Dylan Yeager and Ryan Conrad would round out the top 5 with Conrad only .015 seconds behind Matjoulis.
Heat 1 would see Matjoulis hold off a hard-charging Nathan Waddell by .096 seconds. Dylan Wilson and Chance Carr would round out the qualifiers from the first heat.
Cole Cabre would hold off Brent Carter for the heat 2 win with Cody Nevin moving up 2 spots to 3rd and James Braswell able to move forward 4 spots for the final transfer spot.
In heat 3 Devin Morgan was able to quickly jump from his 3rd starting spot to the lead to outpace Chase Hardy. Demond Buzby and Tanner Tomasi were also able to qualify for the A-Main.
Dylan Yeager would outrun the field in heat 4 winning by almost a full second. Mike Augustine was able to get around Damian Kiefer for 2nd and Jason Moore was able to hold on to the 4th and final transfer position.
B-Main #1 would see Ryan Conrad hold on to the lead for the 12-lap event with Ethan Toedter coming home 2nd. Cole Day was able to move from 9th to 3rd and Joey Lamm grabbed the final A-Main spot.
Dylan Houser led every lap in B-Main #2 with John Ruggiero Jr finishing 2nd. Camden Johnston garnered 8 spots to move from 11th to 3rd and last week's winner Evan Seay was able to squeak into the show moving from 9th to 4th.
The Schaeffer’s Oil A-Feature kicked off with Matjoulis and Cabre leading the 24-car field to the green. Devon Morgan quickly moved into the 2nd spot on lap 3, keeping close company with Matjoulis. Quickly, we found ourselves in a 4-car battle at the front with Yeager jumping into the 4th spot. A caution on lap 11 would tighten up the field before Brent Carter would find himself looking in the wrong direction on the track after contact with Dylan Wilson.
As the race resumed, the fans were treated to some of the best action in the country as the top 4 would be 3 and 4-wide until another caution brought the field back together on lap 20. Then, Devin Morgan started to challenge for the lead, as he and Matjoulis would trade sliders in every corner, which allowed Yeager to creep into the fold on the bottom.
Yeager almost got to the lead catfishing until the bottom line on the track went away, relegating him back to 3rd. Morgan led the final 32 laps of the 55-lap event with Matjoilis crossing the line .422 seconds behind. Yeager brought home a 3rd place finish with his teammate Evan Seay’s hard charger performance that saw him move up 20 spots to 4th. Ethan Toedter also had a great run racing from 19th to round out the top 5.
