Yeager stuns with thrilling last-lap Gobbler 100 pass for $1,500

WHEATLAND, MO (November 17, 2022) - 120 of iRacing's top drivers loaded up their virtual car haulers in hopes of claiming the $1500 top prize in the 15th Annual Gobbler 100 presented by IROC TV.

The night began with Server 1 kicking off, with sixty Dirt Street Stocks vying to be one of the twelve to advance to the night's feature event.

Ethan Toedter started off a night of surprises, and received the Heartland Harley Davidson QuickTime award with a lap of 17.927 (75.31 Mph) in Qualifying. World of Outlaws Late Model Pro Series Champion Evan Seay was just behind him with a 17.944, followed by Brunson Behning, Jim Reavis, and Logan Rumsey rounding out the top five qualifiers.

Heat race winners for Server 1 were Toedter, Seay, Behning, Alex Breuer, and Rumsey.

Jordan Lafon snagged the D Main win. Kendal Tucker won the C Main, and Gerald Miller, Cam Campbell, Ryan Stilwell, and Drew Hopkins moved from the B Main to the 30 lap Server 1 Preliminary Feature.

Evan Seay wrestled away the lead from Ethan Toedter on lap three and would lead the remaining 27 laps to pick up the iRacingiFlag Server 1 win. Also advancing to the Gobbler 100 from Server 1 were Kyle Jared, Barrett Bishop, Trey Mills, Ethan Toedter, Shawn Hayes, Logan Rumsey, Alex Breur, Carl Kilgore, Dezmond Busby, Gerald Miller, and Jeremy Vaughn.

Server 2 kicked off with Chase Barbara picking up the Heartland Harley Davidson QuickTime award with a 17.947 (75.22 Mph) lap time. Jordan Gage, Dylan Yeager, Jamie Massey, and Tanner Tomasi were the top 5 qualifiers.

Heat race winners for Server 2 were: Chase Barbara, Jordan Gage, Dylan Yeager, Jamie Massey, and Tanner Tomasi.

Cecil Kirkpatrick (Cousin of N*Sync band member Chris Kirkpatrick) captured the D Main in Server 2 while Cameron Cason won the C, and Lon Franks took the B followed by Matt Selby, Loic, Bernier, and Colin Carroll advancing to the 30 lap feature.

Chase Barbara led the field to green but by lap 3 Jordan Gage had taken over the top spot, where he led the rest of the way and collected the iRacingiFlag Server 2 win. Dylan Yeager, Chase Barbara, Jamie Massey, Mike Augustine, Tanner Tomasi, Casey Brunson, Tyler Jackson, Brandon Marlow, Colin Carroll, William Hargreaves, and Dylan Houser all advanced to the 15th Annual Gobbler 100 presented by IROC TV from the Prelim A Main.

Evan Seay and Jordan Gage led the 24-car Gobbler 100 A Main field to the green flag, with Gage quickly taking the lead in what would become the longest green flag stretch in Gobbler history at 98 laps before the first and only caution of the night fell. Gage also set the Aaron’s Speed Shop Fast Lap on lap 5 with a 18.011 (74.95 Mph). By lap 20 the entire field was content to run around the bottom except for Ethan Toedter, who had moved to the top line and found his way up to 3rd right on the back bumper of Evan Seay, however by lap 30 the line had gone away but Toedter refused to give up on it costing him several positions in the process.

Two-time Gobbler champion Dylan Houser proved to be up to the task again moving up from his 24th starting spot to 6th on lap 69. While all this was happening Jordan Gage was clicking off laps keeping a nice buffer between him and 2nd place Evan Seay even while catching heavy lapped traffic, and both had put a considerable distance back to the 3rd place driver of Dylan Yeager. On lap 98 everything changed however, as lap cars tangled right in front of the leaders to bring out the first and only caution of the night. This would set up one of the most exciting and controversial finishes in the 15 year history of the Gobbler 100.

On the restart the green and white flag were waved at the same time. The race-long dominator Jordan Gage was able to get a good jump, however Seay stayed close to his bumper and made contact with Gage going into turn one. Gage somehow avoided spinning and third place running Dylan Yeager used all the contact to shoot to the bottom and take the lead coming down the back stretch. Gage was able to stay right on Yeager's door, but Dylan Yeager crossed the line first by a mere 0.048 seconds in an intense side by side finish. Gage crossed the line 2nd with Evan Seay, Barrett Bishop, and hard charger Dylan Houser rounding out the top five.
